Aztec man misses water, breaks leg
By Darren Marcy/Outdoor editor

NAVAJO DAM An Aztec man missed the water and hit a rock while attempting to jump from rocks into Navajo Lake Sunday.

Scott Zieger, 30, is in fair condition at San Juan Regional Medical Center after being airlifted to the hospital by Air Care I.

Zieger was attempting to jump from some rocks into the water near a picnic cove at the lake. But he landed on a rock, breaking his left leg, according to a report taken by Navajo Lake State Park personnel.

Emergency Medical Technicians called for Air Care I due to the time it would take to get Zieger to the hospital by ambulance.

Scanner reports relayed witness accounts that Zieger was bleeding from a gash on his leg and the bone could be seen.
