Short Timeline

May 30th, 2002 -Thursday
~ Ricci returns to pick up his Jeep at the auto repair shop before the shop has a chance to fully fix it
He tells the repairman that it needed for an emergency.

June 4th, 2002 - Tuesday
~ Ricci is at work from about 9am to 5:30pm
~ Ricci claims he spends the evening with friends

June 5th, 2002 - Wednesday
~ 1:05am - 2 cars are spotted on the SLC Shriner's Hospital Parking Lot by a hospital security guard
~ 1:30am (approx) - Elizabeth is kidnapped from her home
~ 1:30am - Ricci claims to be in bed asleep with his with wife.
~ Ricci is scheduled to be off work all day today.
~ 8:30am - Ricci and his neighbor talk about the kidnapping of Elizabeth, Ricci seems to know too much information about it.
~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself)
~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV)

June 6th, 2002 - Thursday
~ Ricci is scheduled to work from 9am to 5:30pm today, but instead works from 10:30am to 7:00pm
~ Police talk to Ricci this day about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. (The media is reporting this, so it could be wrong)

June 8th, 2002 - Saturday
~ Ricci returns the Jeep to the repair shop to get it fix. The Jeep is muddy and the repair shop owner sees Ricci
remove seat covers from the back of the jeep and place them into a plastic garbage bag that already contains
other stuff in it. Also the repair shop owner said a muddy post hole digger tool was in the back of the Jeep, Ricci removes
this also from the Jeep. Ricci has a man waiting across the street to give him a ride. Ricci takes the plastic bag
and contents along with the post hole digger with him. Also there is 500 to 1000 extra miles on the Jeep since
Ricci picked it up on May 30th, 2002.

June 14th, 2002 - Friday
~ Ricci is taken into custody for a parole violation, this being the 2001 robbery of the Smart Home in which he admitted to.



A note to the people who read this thread because they hope and pray that Elizabeth will be returned to her family and who wish to stay up to date with the facts in the case. Please do not let yourself get sucked into a heavy HEATED discussion or argument from someone who wishes to come on this thread and make posts that will disrupt this thread. I am bringing this thread up to the correct amount of actual days Elizabeth has been missing. I was counting 1 day for every 24 hours that have gone by since she was taken from her home, if I continued to do it this way then today would have been day 27... but the media is now truly considering today July 2, 2002 as being day #28 since she was kidnapped, so I am bring this thread up to speed and to match the media's day count.

6/05/02 (Day 1),
6/11/02 (Day 7 = 1 week ),
6/18/02 (Day 14 = 2 weeks),
6/25/02 (Day 21 = 3 weeks),
7/02/02 (Day 28 = 4 weeks)

On AB's program tonite she had a tour of the Utah State Crime Lab. One interesting point brought up was that blood can't be dated. So, for instance, blood from Liz in the Jeep, or blood from Ricci in the Smart home, would not be too helpful in building a case against Ricci.

They also had an interview with Greg Cooper, and some close neighbors of the Smarts, the Garns. You may remember Garn as he went up on a space shuttle mission, was a US senator, and a mayor of SLC, I believe.

Tonight LK asked Mrs. Ricci if the backs of Ricci's hands were hairy. She said he has no hair on the back of his hands.

Of course, if there were others involved in the abduction, the hair on the hands would be useful in determining which person entered the house and got Liz out, whether Ricci or not.

Yeah the blood comments were interesting... Now I am at the point where I don't know what to believe as the other day on another show they said blood could be dated by the color of it and how hard it was, even if it had been there long after it is dried out. But then they can tell if it is splatter of blood, just a drop or smear, depending on the way it looks on the surface.

BTW... I found an online story last night about a guy that killed many woman and how he treated them, (he would beat the crap out of them and then hold them and tell him how sorry he was for beating them and raping them and them he would just flat out turn table again and kill them or leave them for dead.) would you like the link to the story as it is told by his cousin because he raped her from childhood also.

Are you kidding? I have no interest in reading the details about such things. I don't know how those who must, deal with it, i.e. the police, lawyers, judges and jurors. But someone must, and I'm grateful they do. My mother was on a trial for a murder case where the guy used a baseball bat. Plenty of blood splatter, no doubt. I've been called on jury duty, but never got in any trials at all.

Right, I forgot about her. There are so many people floating around Ricci's story, it would seem rather probable there was a conspiracy. If such is the case, it would seem only a matter of time before someone cracks. With Ricci in police custody, I imagine the fellow conspirators are a little concerned he'll cut a deal against them.

Sorry... I thought you would, it takes a look into mental state of this person, acted pretty normal throughout his life, even had a father that was a cop and his son had been doing this crap since he was young and nobody suspected it.

What you failed to mention is that the guy was only NINE years old when he began raping his THREE year old cousin.

Regardless of how "innocent" people believe children are, many of them are not. No matter how good the parents are or how good the upbringing is, all children should be observed for aberrant behavior. I don't know if intervention really does any good, but it never hurts to at least try to turn a kid around.

If intervention had occurred in the lives of those trailer park people, this horrible thing that happened to poor Angelic Elizabeth may have never occurred.

I guess you also ran across the story recently... I didn't go into great detail and didn't post the link because it is pretty horrible, but it gives people an insight into the minds of people that do things like this, not to understand why they do it... but personality flaws that may tip people off to who may do this types of thing.

Did you read the story about the guy in England (I think) that was grabbing teenage girls and holding them on the same website? This happened recently over the past 10 years or so and he still has not been to trial yet.

No problemo. I believe anyone is capable of great good and great evil. This is not to say they will do either, but they are merely capable of it. I've read and heard enough to believe people can be extremely evil to others.

I'm also of the belief that you only poison your mind by exposing yourself to the evil of others, through reading about it, or watching it on television, or movies. So, I am careful about what I expose myself to. This is why I admire those who must do so to keep the rest of us safe from the criminals of the world. In the same way I respect those in the military for being willing to die to protect our lives, and our way of life.
