If this is such a small town, why don't they track down the person who bought an $1800 bicycle for only 10 pounds, and fire the idiot clerk who agreed to the exchange?

Someone made a pretty sweet deal. But the transaction can't be legal, since the seller didn't have title to the property. Rather than raising money, they should be finding the bicycle and returning it to its owner.
