There was an article in today's Left Angeles Times about the CHP using Camaros on the freeways now. Painted white with a small light bar on top and badges only on the doors. So you will have to really watch out for the Chippers..no more just looking out for the black & whites with the big light bar on top. Like they use to say on Hill Street Blues..."let's be careful out there!"

My son is a police officer, and he says they're trying to force the Impalas on them. He says the police prefer a rear-wheel drive car (not one that explodes, however!), and that they don't want the Chevy Impala.

They are getting tricky. Many police cars have a profile that is not distinctive when seen in the rear view mirror.... not that it matters to me one way or the other.

The nice thing about the Camaro is that with the 6-speed, 5th gear is a .75 overdrive, and 6th gear is a .50 overdrive. 0 to 60 in 6 seconds, plus 150 mph top end - nice.

You know why highway patrol departments went to Camaros and Mustangs? They did not need a back seat, because they take no prisoners....
"He ran, Your Honor, and consequently I had to shoot him in the back as he was fleeing, to stop him. Unfortunately he died on the scene."
"Case closed."
Law enforcement used to be so simple. But the officer had to get the drop on the bad guys.
