This week on www.StopDemocrats.com **The News** Main Story:

*George W. Bush Defends Conservatism: On his seventh trip to Ohio since taking office, President Bush touted his domestic policy agenda, and reaffirmed his vision of what it means to be a compassionate conservative. "It is compassionate to encourage work and family and values of personal responsibility. It is conservative to understand government can hand out money, but it cannot put hope in people's hearts. And therefore, we should promote the good works of faith-based and community-based programs," Bush told an audience at Cleveland's 80-year-old Playhouse Square Center, the country's second largest entertainment complex.

In Other News:

*Bad News: Rep. J.C. Watts, R-Okla., will retire at the end of this term, citing family concerns. He made the announcement official in a press conference in which he said, "My work in the House of Representatives, at this time in my life, is completed. It is time to return home.".

*The National Education Association, one of the nation's largest teachers' unions, is the object of a sexual orientation discrimination complaint. The Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those families whose lives have been affected by homosexuality, filed the complaint with the District of Columbia Office of Human Rights in Washington.

*A woman claiming to be first daughter Jenna Bush's University of Texas apartment mate told a California radio show that the media are exaggerating reports of the Bush twins' underage boozing to make it seem as if they have a drinking problem.

*Democratic incumbent Paul Wellstone and Republican challenger Norm Coleman are still running neck and neck in their race for the U.S. Senate, the latest Pioneer Press poll shows.

Articles and Commentary:

*Stephen Reinhardt: leader of the 9th Circus Court: Well, I told you it was going to happen. The Ninth Circus Court suspended their absurd, outrageous ruling against the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. I'm not surprised it happened this fast. The Democrats in Washington were burning the phone lines to Judges Alfred T. Goodwin and Stephen Reinhardt, because they knew the American people were turning their anger at them - the very liberals who want to tear down these sorts of great institutions (RushLimbaugh.com).

*First the Pledge, Now Mother's Day

NewsMax.com: The saying "It's as American as the flag, motherhood and apple pie" may soon be destined for the dustbin of history - at least if a handful of liberal congressmen and congresswomen get their way.

While apple pie apparently remains sacrosanct, 11 congressmen made it clear last week that they're not too thrilled about pledging allegiance to Old Glory, at least not as long as they have to utter the words "One nation, under God."

That's how many House Democrats voted either "nay" or "present" on a resolution backing the traditional pledge after the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled it unconstitutional.

Now another House Dem says the U.S. should get behind a U.N. resolution that trashes Mother's Day as sexist and discriminatory against women.
