SCOTTSDALE, AZ Congressman J. D. Hayworth told House Republican colleagues this morning that he will seek the chairmanship of the GOP Conference in the 108th Congress.
That position became vacant today when current chairman Rep. J. C. Watts of Oklahoma announced he would retire from the House at the end of this session.
Congressman Hayworth said he had urged Rep. Watts to run for re-election and retain the chairmanship. As a team leader and team player, he has done a great job for our conference and we will miss him.

J.D. is a huge blowhard.
Have any of you heard him talk? Just crank him up and out comes fog-horn-leg-horn.

Sorry to hear J.C. is retiring. I don't know much about Hayworth, what is his voting record I wonder.

What politician doesn't have mouth trouble? Hang in there J.D. you have as much going for you as Tom Dashole. Come to think of it, that isn't much of a compliment.

I am so sad to see Mr. Watts retiring..bummer :( I wish him God's blessing upon his family and future career! Now, for the most UTTERLY idiot statement of the day quoted by CHRISSY Matthews...he said that the reason you hear people like Armey(sp?) and Watts retiring is because they know that the Republicans are going to lose the Majority this coming election. He is basing it on the myth that a sitting president usually loses members from his party during his term...something like that. CHRISSY IS a WORLD CLASS CLYMER AND A MORON!!

I love J. D. Hayworth. I just wish he'd run for Senator McInsane's job.

Maybe Hayworth isn't an affirmative action supporter.

Hayworth has a 99 rating from the ACU. I think he'd be great for the job.

I know J D Hayworth (we attended the same church and his daughter was in the same class as my son a few years ago and you can tell alot about parents through their kids). J D is honest, he is a fine Christian, and he certainly would make a much better speaker than our miserable John McCain is doing over in the Senate (BARF!) I am sorry to hear that JC Watts is stepping down, but I believe Bush has Watts earmarked for something better and would love to see JD stand in Watts stead...JD is a very strong speaker for conservative republicans!!!
