Military Stocks Up On Anti-Radiation Pills
USA Today | July 1, 2002

The Bush administration has instructed the military to stock up on anti-radiation pills and make plans to give them to troops should they be exposed to radioactive fallout from an attack or accident.

Suppliers of potassium iodide say shipments to the military have increased in recent months amid fears of war between nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan and terrorist threats against U.S. targets, including nuclear power plants. The Pentagon wouldn't discuss its policy. The tablets have been shown to protect the thyroid gland from diseases caused by radiation if they are taken immediately after exposure.

I'm glad they are taking the precaution but wonder what they may know that they don't wish to tell us.

If this were the Clinton Administration, the pills would have only been ordered (in secret) for Bill, Hillary, and maybe Chelsea and a few White House staffers. The military would have been last on the list.

Meanwhile, I'll be placing an iodine tabs order for my family later today.

Using the words, "Potassium-Iodide" necessitates thought. I doubt the media is interested in the general public exercising their grey matter, thus they will continue to label KI tablets as "anti-radiation" pills.
