July 1, 2002 -- A desperate Yasser Arafat yesterday pleaded for a chance to meet President Bush "anytime" to talk about Mideast peace - but the White House made clear there's no way that will happen.
In fact, Secretary of State Colin Powell - who has met with Arafat in the past - said he has no plans to do that again, as Team Bush seeks to get the Palestinian leader dumped.

Meanwhile, a Palestinian official for the first time hinted Arafat may be ready to step aside - but only after a Palestinian state is set up.
Arafat is still trying to make a deal. Hey Arafat, denial is not a river in Egypt.
If I was to advise Arafat, I would suggest he retire so he could spend more time with the wife and kids (and live to spend some of the millions he put away in his Swiss account), otherwise, he may develop a fatal disease and end up dead.
I would like to nominate Gitmo as the place of choice.
