NABLUS, West Bank, June 30 (Reuters) - Israeli special forces killed a top bombmaker of the military wing of the Islamic group Hamas in a raid on Sunday on a house in the West Bank city of Nablus, Israel Radio said.
Palestinians described the man, Muhanad al-Taher, known as "the Engineer-4", as topping Israel's most wanted list. The radio said Taher, head of Hamas's Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades in the Nablus area, and his men were responsible for the deaths of more than 100 Israelis.
The Israeli army had no immediate comment on the radio report, which also said that one of Taher's deputies was killed in the raid and a third militant wounded.
Palestinian witnesses said Israeli troops had surrounded the home of one of Taher's associates in Nablus, called on its occupants to evacuate the two-storey building and opened fire after they left.
Palestinian medical officials said Israeli liaison officers told them the army had killed two people in the raid and would hand over the bodies later.
Had to dip them in pig fat first.
