Boys under the age of 18 will be required to preregister for Selective Service when they get their Virginia driver's licenses, one of a raft of new laws that will take effect tomorrow.
"What we are trying to do is make sure that the process is equitable and fair," said retired Army Brig. Gen. Manuel R. Flores, Virginia director for Selective Service.

Pay attention to the paragraph about losing eligibility for federal employment (including post office employment), if a young man fails to register for Selective Service by age 27.

Some one bookmark this article, it will be of value the next time some government weasel promises that the information he wants to collect will never be used for any other purpose. If the government has the info, some weasel trying to make his job easier without any additional effort on his part, will ALWAYS claim that some new issue justifies breaking the committment, even if only off the record. We still do not know how many 1000s of FBI files were given to Willie's White House sewer dwellers (inc. Craig Livingstone), by whom, why, by whose authorization, what has happened to them, or what kind of damage they'll do in the future (does anyone doubt that the files on some Republican judicial nominees are in Leahey's hands). Here, there'll have to be exceptions for foreign nationals, COs, probably for trans-sexuals, and for other reasons. Then, we'll track teen age child support arrearages.

"Animal control officers will be required to be trained to recognize possible child abuse and neglect."
Oh great. Rogue nanny goat controllers playing nanny for their children. With out a doubt, that has to be a liberal idea.

"Animal control officers will be required to be trained to recognize possible child abuse and neglect." Will they also join the ranks of "mandated reporters"?
Scary, when you understand how broad are the symptoms that the child protection system considers to be "consistent with child abuse.".

State-approved private institutions should be certifying persons as competent drivers. A person should be able to achieve and maintain thier certification while protecting thier identity from abuse and use for purposes not related to driving.
End the state monopoly on this process now.
