Man shot during robbery, police say

Greenfield - A man who tried to rob a Greenfield gun shop at knifepoint Thursday afternoon was shot in the chest by the shop owner, police said.
The victim, identified only as a 57-year-old Greenfield man, was taken to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa, according to police.
Police have yet to interview the victim because the shooting left him unconscious, Detective Sgt. Paul Schlecht said.
Schlecht said later Thursday that the man's wound was not life threatening. The man's condition was not available Thursday evening from Froedtert.
Schlecht said the shooting took place at about 3 p.m. inside Buckhorn Guns, one of four businesses located in a plaza in the 2700 block of W. Ramsey Ave.
The parking lot of the plaza was surrounded by yellow police tape Thursday afternoon as police investigated the shooting.
Schlecht said he did not know what the suspect demanded but said there is nothing to indicate the account of the incident that the store owner gave police was not true.
He said the store owner, 44, shot the man once in the chest and that apparently no one else was inside the store when the shooting took place. The store owner was not injured.
Schlecht said the case is being referred to the Milwaukee County district attorney's office, which will review the actions of the suspect and the shop owner. A case review could happen today, he said.

Anyone who tries to rob a gun shop with a knife should automatically be given the Darwin award.

Just like the old saying about bringing a knife to a gunfight. Look at the actions of this moron and learn the lesson well.

Police have yet to interview the victim because the shooting left him unconscious, Detective Sgt. Paul Schlecht said. There's a lesson to be learned here. Always pull the trigger at least 3 times. This guy shouldn't be breathing.

The police learn that lesson during training, once you start firing don't stop until the target is dead. That is the result of greedy lawyers who love to trot wheelchaired plaintiffs in front of juries. USA has the most wealth of any country, and therefore the most lawyers scheming after it, and many unfortunate side-effects, for example firefighters who won't fight fires, inventors that won't invent, and now a purely American phenomenon: blue suicide.

Please note also that the perp is the victim as he is unconscious and the police have unable to interview him. The gun shop owner is not classified as the intended victim which might make the story more balanced.

You're right, I can picture the lawyer wheeling this "poor guy" into a courtroom and giving a sob story. "This guy was a robber because he was poor. He only wanted money for food [not crack or heroin] and didn't intend to hurt anybody, that's why he only had a knife. Then he was gunned down by the horrible greedy shopkeeper, who would rather gun down a father of three than take a tiny hit on his profit margin. You got your blood money, Judas, how does it feel? Blah blah blah ad nauseum...."

The victim, identified only as a 57-year-old Greenfield manHe's 57 years old and happens to be the only other witness to what happened. What if he wakes up and tells a completely different story? Like "The knife isn't mine and the shop owner flew into a rage at something I said"......
Showing up at a gunfight with a knife is not very smart.

Typical leftist reporter. Claiming the perp is actually the victim.

I think one of your friends was on the Outdoor Channel last nite showing off. My Grandson called and told me to watch this guy shoot marbles off a board with a 45. He even did it with a mirror and the gun upside down. I though now that's "GUN CONTROL" at it's best.
