SANTA FE -- State police investigators have been looking into possible white-collar crime in the state Education Department's adult basic education unit, according to a state police criminal agent, David Martinez.

But he says he cannot discuss details because the investigation is active and open.

Martinez says the next step is up to the district attorney's office in Santa Fe.

The adult basic education unit is part of a division that oversees adult and occupational education in the state.
