Beckley Man Sentenced 1 to 15 Years
Forty five year old Dennis Wayne Alexander was charged with the murder of Vickie Lawson of Beckley. He was accused of giving his victim a fatal dose of prescription pills.
Friday Judge John Hutchinson said Alexander had been given the best rehabilitation West Virginia had to offer, and each time he was released the prognosis was poor.
With that he sentenced Alexander to 1-15 years for controlled substance plus one year for manslaughter.
Alexander is in Southern Regional Jail. He could face a chance for parole with a few years.

Gives a whole new meaning to "the inmates are running the asylum". Lord help us.

That depends heavily on what level of manslaughter and the events appertaining there unto. To say that his crime was unjustly punished is foolish without first knowing all the facts behind the crime.
Perhaps he couldn't be nailed for a longer prison stay on manslaughter so they made sure he stayed in on the drug charges. Regardless, he's still in jail.

You have to get your priorities straight! </sarcasm>

And that's why. ;) The law probably wouldn't prescribe anything heavier, that is an odd case.

Another reason to make me proud to be from West Virginia. Idiots!

Okay, drug warriors, this actually goes along with your priorities. The Drug War has been killing people unnecessary since 1912. Around 3,000 Americans die every year from causes associated with illegal drugs, while 10,000 die in murders associated with illegal drug trafficking caused by drug prohibition. During Alcohol Prohibition in Chicago, there were, if memory serves me, 395 bombings, not one of which was solved. Those bombings ended with the ending of Alcohol Prohibition.
The point is, Drug Warriors rather see people dead, than stoned. That is sick, sick, sick and anti-human in my book. That's what you're buying with drug prohibition.

The point is that the justice system sends the message that it is more concerned about drug possession than it is about killing. And this, regardless of whether or not this Beckley man is a low-life scum bag who deserves the time in jail he got in total.
