Milk processors do not have to sell the milk powder to the government. They could break it down into protein products, such as casein, that food manufacturers need for a variety of products from energy bars to infant formulas.

Processors sell to the government for one simple reason: The government pays more for nonfat dry milk, about 90 cents a pound, than food makers pay for milk protein.

Absolutely un-f*ing-believable! To think I went to work today so the Gov't could take my money for this kind of sh*t.

We blew up Saddam's "baby milk factory..."

We could send it there with American Flags and the typical "have you seen this moustache? If so, call the CIA so he can be removed."

"They keep making it and we keep buying it," said Steve Gill, an Agriculture Department official.

Perhaps a basic understanding of the marketplace is in order. They keep making it because you keep buying it. (Hint..hint..)

This is a joke, right? And people want these fools to run a program for government aid for prescriplion drugs? Hold on to your wallets.

The bags of powder are kept in a series of privately owned, manmade caves near Kansas City, Mo., and other warehouses around the country. An additional 20 million to 25 million pounds arrive every week.

This really has me ticked off.

There is no reason for this program, but since it does exist, then why can't they give this milk to people on WIC or food stamps, or some other program where I am buying food for people or the military?

I mean, we are paying idiots to go to Washington to sit around dreaming up a program to put powdered milk in a cave and then hand out more money for people to go the store to buy milk. And these guys have the gall to investigate corporate corruption!

Because the people on WIC or food stamps are entitled to Grade AA quality dairy products.............milk, butter, and cheese just to name a few.....

This is just another example of the total idiocy of our politicians and a good reason for us to 'CLEAN HOUSE' and get this type of corruption and total waste OUT OF GOVERNMENT.

So are you going to vote for these Two-Party, completely controlled imbecils when election time comes? You tell me that IF AlGore were president, do you believe he could have passed this much SPENDING increase in governmental jobs? You know the answer is NO. Ergo my logic says that if you are conservative you got screwed & will continue IF you do the same next time.

This & the recently passed farm bill that includes milk subsidies.

(I think that PETA-led strike by cows for better working conditions may also have something to do w/ it. /sarcasm)

Well, like my mother always says "Beggers can't be choosers" and "If you think you are too good to eat it, then you must not be hungary enough."

The government is trying to figure out what to do with $1 billion worth of nonfat milk powder that it bought over the past three years to prop up the prices paid to dairy farmers.

You can thank Jim Jeffords, Patrick Leahy & Bernie Sanders for this.
