Subpoenas were flying from Washington to Wall Street yesterday as lawmakers demanded a public accounting for the WorldCom debacle from its disgraced big shots. Founder and former Chief Executive Officer Bernie Ebbers, current CEO John Sidgmore and Chief Financial Officer Scott Sullivan - the architect of the firm's accounting shenanigans - were summoned by the House Financial Services Subcommittee last night.

Why aren't the bureuacrats that have stolen/missplaced/misspent the 17.3 BILLION being brought in front of a full panel of over-ambitious politicians?

Congress could care less. Why interrupt their 3-day week for which they are well-compensated? But the phony baloneys up for reelection gotta show they're (barf) concerned (ha!) about constituents' getting screwed by these thieves.
