Well, damn. The Who had just announced a 25-city tour, to have been kicked off in Las Vegas in the next few weeks.
A sad day. An integral member of one of the world's greatest bands is gone. I'm glad he didn't "die before he got old."
Sigh. Why can't there be bands of the caliber of the Stones and The Who today? Sigh...

This is sad...He was an excellent bass player and a decent man. Laid back and always there for the other three.

Wow. So much for a life of wretched excess (although Entwistle always seemed to me much the calmest of all the original Who lineup). He just quietly stood there thrumming his Gibson Firebird bass while the other guys made with the theatrics.
Very sad to hear, but I don't believe anyone gets out of here alive.

Aw, man. One of the greatest bass players of all time. :(
"Hope I die before I get old"...well, if he didn't consider 57 "old", he got his wish...

Next question will be what he died of at 57 years old. I'd argue that any rocker of his generation that managed to make it to 57 actually managed to do pretty well.

RIP John. That's a lot of living in 57 years.
I'm smiling to myself, though, at a sudden memory of last year, when I was explaining to my 16-year-old nephew what those four geriatrics were doing singing "Teenage Wasteland." "Rock and Roll" is getting to mean the style of chair you're sitting in and that stuff lopping over your belt...

This is sad. I was trying to get tickets for their gig. God bless and thanks for the music. :-(

Let me que up - "Magic Bus", I want it, I want it.
Rock on John.

Oh no, this is very sad news. What a great bass player he was. It was The Who songs I used most often when I was learning bass. You want to learn from the best and he was. RIP John, your music will live forever.
