LONDON -- The founder of an Internet site to provide sperm donors for lesbian couples wanting to have children said yesterday the site was overwhelmed with 8,000 registrations in the first 48 hours of operation.
ManNotIncluded.com, launched in Britain on Monday, was set up to provide lesbian couples with sperm for "home insemination."
Founder John Gonzalez said 3,000 lesbian couples had already signed up, while 5,000 men had registered to be donors.
40,000 HITS
"We have been overwhelmed by the response to the Web site. Over 40,000 people have visited the Web site since it went live on Monday," Gonzalez said. "As a result of this interest, we've demonstrated that there is a huge demand for our unique service."
Gonzalez said not everyone who had registered would pass the company's screening process. The firm says it will get both donors and recipients, although the two parties will not meet.
SCREENING PROCESS
Donations will be made through established clinics that will provide medical screening.
The company estimates it will cost about $1,100 to conceive a child through the service, and donors will be paid $115 to $140.
Britain's Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority has expressed reservations about the service, saying stringent health screening of sperm is essential to prevent women's health being put at risk.
LMAO!
Didn't mean those types either, I'm not 'going there' :-) .
What? Do they have a pay scale based on volume?
Damn! Can you send them this stuff in the mail?
...and donors will be paid $115 to $140.
Sounds like they're looking for gigolos to me.
Could be, maybe it a scale for how desirable the father is? (eg. Harvard grads get $140; Joe Average get $115)?
I don't think so, only because I remember seeing a story on FR about a guy in prison who was trying to mail some sperm to his girlfriend/wife so they could have a kid, but he wasn't allowed to do it.
Of course in the UK, maybe it's legal I have no idea.
A+++++++
Millions wonder the same thing all the time, my man.
