What is the big deal? It is not uncommon for old, or not so old rural cemetaries to be incorporated into a new subdivision. What are these so called adults afraid of? Ghosts? I have seen houses with circular driveways in which the land within the circle was a cemetary. So What?

Property Values. Would you want to buy a house that had a body in the back yard? Neither does anyone else. And while you may eventually knock down the cross over the dog’s grave it seems kind of disrespectful to do the same to the poor old dude’s grave. So you would be stuck with maintaining the grave forever. If this were a family farm sort of situation where the property would stay in the family it would be different.
Also this would be visible from the other houses. Would you buy a house with a lovely view of a grave?

I wonder if the woman would even sell the house if her husband were buried there?
I wonder if they can bury the dog next to him in the cemetery?

I worked for a development company and had a project in Florida that had a similar one off burial on the site. We had to move the deceased before we could go ahead with the project and it was a major pain to do. It requires researching for any surviving family and in lieu of not having immediate relatives filing of legal notices in various newspapers for several months. Then there are a raft of permits to obtain to exhume the deceased and move them to a cemetary. The process took months and cost thousands.
It would be better to have the guy in a cemetary so he can rest in peace.
