[history]
A grand jury indicted a retired Roman Catholic priest on six counts of sexual abuse and 36 counts of indecent and immoral practices today after dozens of victims came forward saying they were sexually abused when they were children.
A Jefferson County grand jury handed down the indictment against the Rev. Louis E. Miller, 71, who served in several churches and schools in the Louisville Archdiocese.

were sexually abused when they were children. Why do I have this suspicion that the AP writer mispelled "boys"?

Just another example of anti-Catholic bias in the media, let's move along here, I'm sure the bishop would take care of this if everyone would just leave him alone to do good works......< /sarcasm>

Associated Press reporter Lori Burling did an excellent job. A fairly complicated story and not once did she use the "H" word.
Bravo!

Archbishop Thomas Cajetan Kelly, O.P.
From the Archbishop's Newsletter:
Finally, I told the reporters that we are a Church of sinners. I sin, our priests sin; all of us sin. Christ did not come to this world to redeem perfect, holy people. God has promised us through the Paschal mystery that good can come out of evil, and I am confident that He will lead us through this dark journey to a much better place.
"Hey, nobody's perfect. But trust me, everything's going to be okay." </sarcasm>
To: eastsider
Of course we're all sinners, but not all sins are the same: e.g. telling a 'white lie' to your wife that her ugly dress looks great, while probably a sin, is not the same thing as buggering 50 or 60 boys between the ages of 6-16. Sorry, the tu quo que move just doesn't work in the Church scandal.

Doesn't it seem like this is more than just the one or two percent of priests the hierarchy claims there is? New reports every single day since this broke in January. It sure seems closer to 50% as being the portion of American priests who are gay, fey, pederast, pedo, or just plain crooks.

Or to paraphrase: "Finally, I told the reporters that we are a Church of sodomites. I sodomize, our priests sodomize; all of us sodomize."

I think it actually makes some people view all religions with suspicion.

You're welcome. I saw another story in the Louisville paper about the hierarchy trying to keep records private.
To: Dr. Scarpetta
Jesus said he has no tolerance for the abuse of children.
To the bottom of the sea with Miller.
