Boy set on fire by brother dies
Syracuse, New York-AP -- A toddler whose older brother set him on fire over the weekend has died at a Boston hospital.
The four-year-old from Syracuse, New York, suffered second- and third-degree burns over nearly his entire body. He'd been in critical condition since being hospitalized in Boston on Sunday.
Police say the boy's seven-year-old brother poured lighter fluid on him and then set him ablaze with a match.
The brother is being charged with assault, and a police spokesman says additional charges are possible.
They're also looking into whether there was proper supervision of the children in the house.

I am going to venture a guess, without the use of money or time .... YES I think there was.

Kids today have no parents. The public schools see them as easy money and political tools.
I think the kids are lost, angry, and unlearned like crazed wild animals. These are the children of "the village."

It's enough to make a grown man cry...
It is a sad day we live indeed. I see stories like this and I go home and hug my daughter.
Here is a link to my news listing site - lists tv stations on the web and a link to newspapers on the top (all in an easy to use single page format, no adverts!). I look at news all over the US daily and sometimes it is uplifting, but often I see things like what I posted here which just weigh my heart down.

You're exactly right! What a shame that so many parents today are so wrapped up in themselves that they can't even bother to raise their children. It's heartbreaking to read stories like these that prove just how "damaged" this world has become.

They're also looking into whether there was proper supervision of the children in the house. My thought exactly. Was there a recently-inspected fire-extinguisher nearby?

This happened in a very poor (mainly minority) part in the City of Syracuse. The mother is single and 30 years old. She said she left the children in the care of her 22-year-old boyfriend and her aunt while she went to a "party." While I feel very sad for this mother (basically she has lost both her children), it looks like there was no proper supervision. The 7-year-old told police (according to the Post Standard paper here in Syracuse) that he was mad that the boyfriend made him go to bed. Why is God's name he would set his own brother on fire is beyond me! It looks to me that this 7-year-old has been harboring alot of anger about many things for quite some time! Very, very sad!

Like I said - no parents. Just adults that hang around waiting for their goverment checks or next sex or drug partner. Sickening.

We heard about it on the Syracuse radio station and it just took the heart out of us. Our prayer was that the child wouldn't live and that he would be ushered into the presence of God quickly so he didn't have to suffer what his brother had done any longer. It's so terribly sad for everyone involved. I hope it does some good in the long run for the mother; that she turns her life around, and that the boy who did it gets proper help somehow. They sure do need God to intervene in this situation, big time! And He can do it...IF they let Him. Seven years old...can you even imagine such a thing? It floors me. God help them all!
