I had a 66 Chevy with a 396 rat motor, worth an advertised 425 horses, but probably closer to 500. It would suck the headlights out of GTO's, Vettes, etc. The solid lifter mill turned in 6 or 7 miles per gallon and ran hard, untill one day it let go with a rod punched through the block. Sayonara full house and hello 396 sedan motor as a replacement.

Mine is a 66 Chevy C-10 Truck, but it's got a 4 bolt main 350 with a Crane Cam, Edlebrock Intake, Edlebrock Carb & Shift kit. Basically it's got the whole nine yard package but the Radiator just blew and their not easy to come by. My MX 6 Turbo will smoke my V-8 though, it's amazing what a little Boost will do for a 4 banger.

I'm going to wait until I can see and drive the new GTO before passing judgement. I haven't read anything describing the driveline, but I'm thinking GM went to the Holden to bring back a front-engined rear-wheel-drive car.

Like I said earlier, I also hope there will be a four-door sedan version so I can go the "sleeper" route again. Boy is that fun!
