EU environment ministers have expressed their disappointment at Australia's refusal to ratify the Kyoto protocol, which is aimed at reducing global greenhouse gas emissions.
The ministers have urged all nations which signed on to the protocol in 1997 to live up to their responsibilities and cut their greenhouse gas emissions back to pre-1990 levels.
But the ministers say the European Union is particularly disappointed with the recent announcement by Prime Minister John Howard that his Government will not ratify the Kyoto protocol.
Earlier this month, Australia backed away from committing itself to the accord until the United States, and developing countries including China and India, were fully involved.
Resources Minister, Ian Macfarlane has also said Australian industry and jobs will suffer if the Government ratifies the protocol in its current form.

>EU disappointed Australia won't ratify Kyoto protocolDisappointed? Hey, wow, do you suppose the U.N. will bomb AU into submission, or just leave them to the demon possessed Muslims to continue to invade boatload by boatload?

We haven't seen too many floating Abduls this year. I guess the idea of spending your most productive years on the Nullarbor Plain, drinking shampoo and staging demonstrations of hysteria for the benefit of visiting ABC camera crews isn't as much of an appealing career option as settling down in Lamena on the dole, yelling three cheers for Osama -- and getting the taxpayers to fund it all in the name of "multiculturalism."
Incidentally, if you're interested, there's a pro-illegal alien petition at: http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?ralas&1
It's worth recording your opinion, if you have a mind to do so. Otherwise, there are some quite amusing comments.

"Lamena" is the Muslim word for "Lakemba" (ho ho ho)

Good on ya Mates! All you have to do now is re-arm the Aussie public and you'll be back to normal. As for the EU wimps, SCROOM!

About time Australia rejoined the logical thinkers of the world. Now if they would only rethink their gun laws.

I am sure John Daly had some influence on Australia wisdom for shooting down this stupid treaty based on the flimiest of science. The best site on the net for global warming,

Forbidding place-names of the world, easily in the top three dozen or so. "A huge expanse of dirt that sits at the bottom of the continent of Australia, straddling the border between Western Australia and South Australia. . It's notable because it has no trees. The name is derived from the Latin nullus arbor, meaning 'no tree'. It serves as a physical and metaphorical barrier between Western Australia and the rest of the country. Crossing the Nullarbor is recognized as a rite of passage and something that you generally only do once. The most memorable thing about driving across the Nullarbor is the fact that there is not much to see."
The big nothing.
