SERBIAN ORTHODOX CEMETERY NEAR PRISTINA FOUND DESECRATED

Pristina, June 24, 2002.

Fr. Zoran Filipovic, the Serbian Orthodox parish priest from Babin Most and Milosevo, confirmed today to the Diocesan Information Service that the Serbian cemetery at Milosevo, 10 km north from Pristina, was found desecrated.

On Saturday, June 22, Fr. Zoran and a group of his parishioners, escorted by KFOR, visited the cemetery at Milosevo village to perform the annual commemoration service. Upon arrival to the site they were shocked to see at least 70 tombstones desecrated.

"There is almost not a single tomb which has not been damaged. But the most painful for us was to see the photos of the deceased on the tombstones with their eyes gouged out. For us that was more distressing than to see the tombstones toppled, " Fr. Zoran said .

The priest could not say when the incident occurred and could only confirm that the last year on this day the cemetery stood intact while he with his parishioners performed the commemoration service. Fr. Zoran has written a letter of protest to the local UN administrator in the Municipality of Obilic to which Milosevo belongs.

Belgrade based TANJUG News Agency reported today that the UNMIK police spokesman Barry Fletcher said that this incident had not been reported to the UN Mission yet.

Beside the recently reported desecrations of cemeteries in Djakovica, Pec and Orahovac this latest event confirms the fear of Bishop Artemije who seriously suspects that all Serb cemeteries out of guarded enclaves might have been damaged or completely destroyed by Kosovo Albanians.

Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Raska and Prizren with its faithful people and clergy most strongly condemns such acts of barbarism and urgently requests from UNMIK and KFOR to protect the remaining Serbian patrimonial sites according to their obligation formulated in the UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

"By their tolerating systematic desecration of Christian Orthodox holy sites in Kosovo Metohija, the UN Mission and KFOR are seen directly responsible in the eyes of the Serbian people and the Church. According to our knowledge, not a single perpetrator has been brought to justice for these crimes so far, which cannot be justified and is utterly disgraceful. The silence and even shameless denials by the leading Kosovo Albanian officials, who accuse the Church of propaganda, even more confirm overtly antidemocratic and discriminatory orientation of the new Albanian-dominated institutions in Kosovo and Metohija and seriously discourage further Serb participation. With this pattern of behavior Kosovo is not heading towards Europe but is becoming the most uncivilized and backward part of the continent," said Fr. Sava (Janjic) in his comment on occasion of the incident at Milosevo.

"The leaders who are not capable of showing responsible leadership and do nothing to prevent destruction of Kosovo's centuries old Christian monuments do not act on behalf of all citizens but directly serve the narrow interests of Albanian nationalists. Such leaders cannot be accepted by the Serbian people as their own because they lead Kosovo's communities towards further confrontation.

International community must not be deceived by empty rethoric and should request urgent concrete steps by the Government and the Parliament to finally bring to an end such behavior," concluded Fr. Sava.

YOU are not the target.....tropal-j@__ is.....

I never address that twit with anything BUT DISTAIN as he is a SERB HATER and oh, so klintoonesque!!

In fact, he is so biased against Christian SERBS that I am beginning to think he may be a muslim croat. His profession of concern for RC churches ANYWHERE ( none of which the albanian extremists have destroyed in KosovO) may, in fact, JUST BE A RUSE.

You know the croats had that albanian ceku to do alot of dirty deeds against the Serbs....hmmmmm, is that you, ceku aka tropal-j@--????? hahahahaha!!!

What a wonderful reward we gave the Serbs for guarding the gates of Western Civilization.

This is the most shameful episode of American history in my lifetime.

To bomb a Christian European civilian populace for the benefit of Islamic terrorists is beyond shameful, actually; it is sick.

Do I know it? You bet I know it. I was trashing the KLA (radical muslim/drug-running/marxist terrorists) in this forum years ago.

What this idiot said is that America is responsible for 9/11 because of kosovo, which is absurd. There would have been no war against the Serbs if Clinton hadn't been president. It was the Clinton administration who sided with the KLA ( a group listed as "terrorists" in their own Justice dept.) and it was Maddy Albright who actually got daily briefings from the head of KLA.

The whole thing was an abomination and the Serbs are right to indict Clinton for war crimes. But someone needs to ask the "peaceful" muslims living in our country, why the 9/11 terrorists were plotting their murder of Americans at the very time we were fighting on their side in Yugoslavia. I'll never figure that one out.

I told my son repeatedly that we are on the wrong side there and he could never understand it. After 911, he saw.

Also, I won't support a President of the United States to be indicted, or even if accused will be defended, by any court other than one representing the people of the United States.

Not to defend Clintoon, but, first, he was hesitant to engage in this illegal war and did so after incessant hectoring from the media, led by CNN (Christiane Amanpour), the New Republic, Time, Newsweek, the new York Times, and, the allegedly conservative garbage rag, the Weekly Standard. Second, George Bush could say about three or four words and things in Kosovo could change so fast it would make your head spin. He has yet to say them.

I agree with you.

I am not a Serb but a 17th generation American..with just a tiny, tiny bit of Native American thrown in just to make it even.

I have meet MANY Serbian refugees who now live in the USA because they were forced to leave their homes in Bosnia and Croatia after the civil war which torn apart Yugoslavia. Most are doing quite well now..and some doing REALLY well.

I have come to like them...I didn't know ONE Serb as far as I know, before I started to work with refugee re-settlement back in 1995. I now even know mixed families...Croat-Serb husband or wife "teams"...they are pretty neat too.

Anyway, I sat in Church with about 100 Serbian adults and some Croatians the night Klintoon started bombing and murdering the Serbs and others in Yugoslavia.

I was crying so much and expressing my sadness and shame, that the the refugees, were trying to comfort me. They were telling me it was not the AMERICAN PEOPLE'S FAULT...IT WAS KLINTON's.

Oh, please. GW, like his father would never criticize Clinton because of their respect for the presidency. There will never be a declaration that we screwed up there, if that's what you're driving at. And you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes since the minimal US forces left serving as support in Kosovo were sent to Afghanistan. It's a NATO mission now. We sent a ton of financial aid to Yugoslavia and I personally sent a fruit basket to Slobo...who's doing a bang-up job turning the entire trail in the Hague, on its ear.

Your take on the media goading Clinton into the war is ridiculous. He had been looking around for something to distract us from his crimes and got tired of lobbing bombs at Saddam.

The poor Yugoslavian foreign minister was on Hungarian TV every night pleading with someone in the state department to listen that the KLA was launching nightly raids on THEIR OWN VILLAGES, where they cut the throats of everyone in their sleep and said the Serbs had done it.

I'd bet money they did it to give Clinton the excuse he was looking for. It had nothing to do with the media. Their job was to provide cover and a cheering section.

I do agree that the media goaded Tubby into the Bosnian war but I don't agree on Kosovo.

I understand what you mean....but I think some Serbs are feeling that Americans do not understand the islamic threat like they and MANY Christian peoples of the Balkans know and hate.

9/11 was such a horrid day.

In my town , the Serbian refugees had been having fund raising parties to get the money to start an Orthodox Church here and bring a Priest from Serbia to help them.

A fund raising party had been scheduled for a month BEFORE 9/11 to be held on the Saturday, Sept. 15th.

THE SERBS CANCELLED THE PARTY AND DID NOT HOLD ANOTHER ONE UNTIL 40 DAYS AFTER 9/11...the proper period of mourning in their belief.

On the Friday following 9/11....the BOSNIAN MUSLIMS in an apartment complex near my daughter's home...held a BIG party for about 75 people at the complex's club house...COMPLETE WITH BOOZE,SMALL FIREWORKS AND ROASTED LAMBS ON A SPITS!!

The police even had to make an appearance as it was so rowdy...my daughter's best friend is the apartment manager.

Americans don't understand the Serbian war because the stinking media won't tell them. At some point they'll put it together though. Muslims are muslims everywhere.

It's far more likely that Amanpour was cooperating with Clinton's plans on orders from her CNN bosses. CNN routinely manufactured public support for anything Clinton did, reporting Clinton's actions as though they were broadly supported by the American people.

Clinton did what he wanted to do by bombing Serbs. He never took any guff from his own lapdog news media.

>>>Guess you never heard of the Ferhadija in Banja Luka?<<<

Geez, Tropoljac, I thought you are decent Croat and shyster for radical islamists.

Ferhadija mosque was built over Orthodox Christian church razed to the ground, the practice known all over Muslim world. (e.g. Jerusalem, Luxor ). While tragic, destruction of Ferhadija is understandable.

That was a red herring to distract the topic from barbarity of Kosovo Albanians, wasn't it?

the gouging of eyes from medieval frescoes is long time Albanian past time since they settled in Kosovo in 1690's.

In pre-1912 Serbian consul Milan Rakic wrote a poem Simonida about this savage practice of Albanians.

Albanian terrror today is similar to unchecked Albanian terror in the years prior to The First balkan war of 1912

Albanian terrorism and land grab has over 100 years of track record.
