Reported FBI is raiding (and they did use the term "raiding") the home of a Ft. Detrick researcher in connection with the Anthrax case. Didn't have any further info, just came in.

It took years to get Ted Kaszynski, and the FBI only got him when it published his screed, and Kaszynski's brother recognized the writing.

The FBI published the anthrax screed promptly enough. But they won't be arresting the perp, because he flew through a skyscraper on the morning of 11 September. If they're lucky, though, they might get some of his assistants, if they're not already in custody.

According to a report I heard on WMAL radio at 9 PM, a guy arrested in Baltimore (presumably this same guy) had shared an apartment in Virginia with two of the hijackers, Hanjour and (I think) Alhazmi, in the summer of 2001.

Nah, just 'cause someone closer to the issue than either of us wonders the same thing that I do, it doesn't mean that you are completely wrong. Oh, maybe it does.

I heard on C-SPAN within the past couple of weeks congresspeople asking Mueller and Ridge irritated questions about the lack of progress in the anthrax investigation. FBI people may have been under pressure to pin the charge on somebody.

I think they are two separate stories. The apartment they searched related to the anthrax case was in Ft. Detrick and no arrests were made. They guy who shared the apartment with the hijackers was Rasmi Al-Shannaq. He was arrested in Baltimore for overstaying his visa.

I may be mistaken, but I thought the reports were that small quantities of anthrax were produced at Detrick, then irradiated, and then shipped to Dugway. I believe Dugway then milled them into a weaponized, but dead, form of antrax that was then shipped back to Detrick.

Well sure, it's a fundamental principle of human nature that EVERYBODY will act in their own self-interest. Nothing wrong with that, it's simply the way life is.

No, there IS something wrong with that and that's not the way EVERYBODY acts. That's the way lower animals act, or others without ethics or morals. But many people eschew their own self-interest in the interest of ethics and/or morals.

Oopps, I got it wrong. Here's the thread on anthrax produced at Dugway. Small quatntities were produced there and sent to Detrick, but these were paste not powedered anthrax.

I believe that truck has been sitting outside a few dozen residences the past few weeks.

So, you're saying they send a TRUCK out when they go an look for clues? They put a couple of baggies' worth of evidence into a tractor-trailer, and cart it off to the evidence lab?

Note that I didn't say "Islamist or other foreign terrorists aren't trying to hit us with bio-weapons." I said "this instance wasn't Arab terrorism, it was domestic terrorism meant to take advantage of the pandemonium following 9-11."
