Hannity & Colmes interviewed the parents of the little black girl missing tonite..They asked the parents if they felt their story not being covered is racial...they said yes...The step-father also said that the authorities seemed to place too much blame on the fact that he has a conviction record, which shouldn't matter anyway...Also, according to the parents, they didn't feel that their daughter ran away from home because she was upset and crying because the mother wouldn't allow her to take her snacks to school.

It just slays me that the media are the ones who aren't covering these other abductions. I'm in a cynical mood this evening, but why haven't those media outlets chosen to run the story of little Alexis, and other little kids? It is an editorial decision being made, and I refuse to be made to feel guilty over this. Howard Kurtz, CNN, and now H&C have chosen to make this an issue. Well, then, they should put their money where their mouths are and start sending reporters to Detroit to interview the family. I"ve heard some conflicting information on Alexis' family so I don't want to say too much more. And it is unfortunate that the volunteers haven't been there to search for Alexis. I'm sure there is some racial profiling (I don't know what term to use) in covering some of these stories. I just don't know, but again, the media are the ones making these choices and decisions on what abductions to play up, and what ones they won't.

There's plenty of missing children of all colors and classes. This selection of one couple is misleading.
IMO the reasons there's more interest in Smart are:
Wealth (no movies about poor kidnapped kids, ya know)
Media savvy
Home invasion circumstance
Blonde.
Other reason it stays in the news are active hunts, nationwide, for suspects, knowledge of suspects, sex, and other mysterious elements.
I don't wholly discount the color angle, but it's overrated to the other facts IMO. Give that family some money and a home invasion scenario, they would be plenty known.
