The Israeli Police Monday disclosed that the suspected killer of Lod policeman, who was shot dead in March, had been handed over by the Jordanian authorities.
Suspect Rubin Abu Zayad was arrested in Jordan, carrying a forged Belgian passport, and handed over to Israel last week. The Israeli media refrained from publishing any details of how Abu Zayad reached Jordan.
The Israeli policeman was shot to death allegedly by Abu Zayad when he stopped his car in Lod for a check on March 3. Police had placed a high priority on tracking down Abu Zayad.
Man from Eindhoven (Holland) Arrested in Masud Muder Case

The arrest in Eindhoven was requested by the Belgian police. They are currently investigating the origine of the forged Belgian passports that the two assassins were using. The perpetrators were traveling with forged Belgian passports. The documents appear to be stolen from the Belgian embassy located in Den Haag (The Hague, Holland) and the Belgian consulate in Straatsburg (Luxemburg). In Belgium certain suspects were arrested earlier. The British justice department already has accused an Egyptian fundamentalist of aiding the assassination attempt.
Suspect in murder case Masud will be haded over soon
The arrest of the suspect has only been announced last wednesday. Police detained him at the request of the Belgian authorities. The Belgians are investigating the origin of the fake Belgian passports that were used by the two killers of Masud.
The commandant of the Northern Alliance was killed on 9 september by two Moroccans that were pretending to be journalists. Supposedly the Taliban or the terrororganisation of Osama bin Mohammed bin Laden prepared the assassination.
The justice department in Belgium is currently investigating the origin of the fake passports. It is known that the passports were stolen from the Belgian embassy in Den Haag (The Hague) and the Belgian consulate in Straatsburg (Strassbourgh, Luxemburg). In Belgium currently some persons are being detained in connection with the case.
According to the Belgian police, the man arrested in Eindhoven has been involved with supplying the fake passports.
