DODOMA, Tanzania (Reuters) - Hospital officials said they had recovered 200 bodies after a passenger train and a cargo train collided in central Tanzania Monday.

"At least 200 people are dead but we fear there could be more," John Mtimbwa, the regional medical officer, told Reuters.

Railway officials said the train was climbing a steep hill when it experienced mechanical problems and rolled backwards, smashing into an approaching cargo train.
