More heavy thunderstorms are predicted for this afternoon, which could cause additional flooding on the heels of an unexpected storm that dumped as much as 10 inches of rain on Broward County and south Palm Beach County on Sunday.

Not satisfied with being the center of attention in the news in almost every other way, South Florida now gets into the news on the weather front. BTW, that area of heaviest inundation is right near me.

Is this the area that has trouble with sinkholes? If so, this might make the situation worse. It would be nice if the water could be transfered to Show Low, AZ.

Sinkholes are up north Florida I think. Limestone below the topsoil makes for the best sinkholes. South Florida has coral rock underneath. Another factor may be the high water table down here....

I like all this rain since it's been dry for months.

A 400-pound woman from the same area was trapped in her flooded home, forcing Broward County Fire-Rescue to bring in a boat to carry her to the street.

Ahhh, but did she have to pay for 2 seats?
