Their initial report, which they say was based on secondhand accounts, stated that Mary Katherine had been threatened by the kidnapper to keep quiet about the abduction. They now say that Mary Katherine, who was in the same bed as Elizabeth, feigned sleep during the abduction and overheard the threat addressed to Elizabeth."

Please, please... point out the line where the story you quoted says she changed her story as you have claimed repeatedly.

You might want to remember the old saying: "It is better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt".
