(Israeli) Food marketing project to US gets boost
By TAL MUSCAL
A special project to boost the sale of Israeli food products in the US was launched launched today in a joint effort by the Industry and Trade Ministry, its economic attache in New York Zohar Peri, the Export Institute of Israel, local food exporters, executives of Israeli supermarket chains and Jewish leaders in the US.
Sale of Israeli made food in the US totals some $50 million annually.
Behind the latest push is a growing interest in Mediterranean food by US consumers, and a desire to buy Israeli food by US Jews.
Peri said the marketing drive will take place in New York, Miami, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington DC, and Los Angeles between October and December of this year.
I am planning an Iraeli dinner for friends with falafel w/tahina, cucumber/tomato salad, humus w/ pita chips, marinated olives and mint tea.
If you live in a city with a large Jewish population, check out some of the kosher groceries in the Jewish neighborhood. They usually carry a variety of Israeli products.
Gimme some swarma b'pita!
Just as Europe is launching a boycott of Israeli foodstuffs, the USA will step in and pick up the slack. Maybe we should send the Europeans some pickled pigs feet instead.
