Report: Immigration falls by 30 percent after 9-11

(New York-AP) -- The number of immigrants moving to New York City has decreased since the September 11th terrorist attacks.

That's according to a report published in this weeks Crain's New York Business. The report says it is the first decline in a decade.

Crain's says the decrease can be attributed to tighter visa restrictions and a weakened economy.

Both legal and illegal immigration will fall by more than 30 percent this year, the report says.

The largest decline is among illegal immigrants, with as few as ten thousand illegal immigrants overstaying their temporary visas this year. Crain's says that through the 1990s, 30 thousand illegal immigrants came to the city each year, most on temporary visas they overstayed.

Crain's says the number of immigrants, legal and illegal, to come to New York this year could be as low as 100 thousand.

Good for New York.

Now for a solution in California.

Legal immigration, no doubt, fell quite sharply.

Now, how about illegal immigration? Our borders are still pretty porous, and nobody much seems to be taking action to close them up. How about military jets coming in and laying down strafing fire just ahead of small bands of obviously furtive free-lance immigration types? And following this up with motorized patrols, with attack dogs? Put it all on tape, and publicize it widely within both Mexico and Canada. This is the reception that illegals should expect when they attempt to traverse the borders in an effort to avoid the rush-hour crush at the legal designated crossing points.

If this means that the number of immigrants moving to other parts of the country is up, that is NOT fine at all. Hopefully it means immigration is down across the board.

Does anyone know what the immigration figures are for the country as a whole?

It should fall by 100%.

All we hear from whining NYC politicians is how they need more bailout money taxed from the rest of us because their economy still hurts so bad as a result of 9/11.

And that's aside from whether we need to repeat 9/11 by letting in more of a fifth column. Yes, even the Mexicans. Yesterday's Houston Chronicle has a big article on large-scale conversion to Islam in Mexico.

Get the sticker!

Only 100,000 in one state? Well whoopie! You can be assured that we're losing the argument when we consider 100,000 legal and illegal immigrants to be good news.

I think we need to regain some perspective on this.
