A Hizbullah representative denied an Israeli report that Iran had provided them with fighters and arms via Damascus, the state IRNA news agency reported Thursday.
Tyre MP Abdullah Qasir told IRNA in Beirut that “Hizbullah has the necessary arms to face any enemy attack.”
He said Israeli accusations levelled against Hizbullah, Iran and Syria “are in reality an effort to strike a blow against this axis of stability in the face of Zionist plots,” IRNA reported.
Referring to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the representative said the “criminal Sharon, by throwing the ball outside of his court, is trying to make the world believe that what is happening in Palestine is not what the Palestinians want, but rather the goal of Hizbullah and Syria.”
Qasir warned Israel that any attack against Lebanon would “be countered by a suitable response by Hizbullah and Syria.” AFP
