Surely some of these new revelations can be made to stick for conviction or at least the boot out of Tampa and the USA!

Jeepers! The Justice Department did such a great job investigating Her Heinous' ties to New Square and the Sink Emperor's complicity in exactly this extension of islamist terror, that we can sure depend on them to wrap this up in the same way that Arafat - as a murderer of Americans - is still running around loose.
Oh, yeah. I'm sure confident in them, alright.

Why is al-Arian still in the country, much less still a professor at at state university? In fact, why aren't both al-Arian and his brother been charged with crimes?
And why haven't the Justice Dept. and the FBI been more aggressive in this case?

The problem can be found in people like Blitzer, who claims that it would be difficult to try such a case -- even though prosecutors agree that a Grand Jury can be cozened into indicting a ham sandwich.
It should be recalled that Bin Laden was indicted as a conspirator in the first Trade Towers bombing (1993). However, despite that, the Clinton Justice Department, when offered his head on a silver platter by the Sudanese in 1996, refused the capture. It claimed it didn't have enough to indict Bin Laden, although he had already been indicted!
The Justice Department and the FBI have a long way to go before they will overcome the conviction that the two institutions are comprised of an inordinate number of foul-ups.

"Al-Arian ``is a representative of the Islamic Jihad, a known terrorist organization..." [Words of FBI rep]
And that's not ENOUGH to land him in jail or get him kicked out of the country? What does it take?

Israeli intelligence has provided this and other information tying Al-Arian to the Jihad to federal agents in Tampa, who have been investigating Al-Arian for the past seven years, the officials said. Our agents have been investigating him for SEVEN YEARS?

Well...there is a problem here. What is a foreign intelligence service doing going to our media concerning a case in our country our people are investigating? I don't think the Israeli government would be happy if the CIA went to Ha'artz and said the Mossad botched an investigation of someone in Israel.

Thank you for the links Dixie Mom! I missed most of them because they were posted before I had time to be anything but an occasional lurker.
I hope the reason this guy is still here and free is because his connections and activities are being monitored closely for future use in casting a bigger net. Although, seven years investigation is a long time and provides to him the opportunity for raising more money and engaging in whatever subversive activities he's involved in.
The WORST aspect of his longevity at the university is that it gives him the access to gather, recruit and influence more students, too. Genshaft's decision regarding his dismissal is due in August. I hope she does the right thing and doesn't cave to pressure from students, other professors and unions. How's that for having the cards stacked in his favor?
Since Al-Arian and Shallah are in leadership positions or have lofty connections with the Islamic Jihad, my guess is that Tampa is some sort of hub. As a poster mentioned in one of Dixie Mom's links, the proximity to McDill Airforce Base Central Command is worrisome.
It makes me angry, too, that these people can use our resources and issue statements about striking us when and where they choose while remaining out of reach of our laws. We just need to be aware they are here among us.

You have a point. I assumed Fechter contacted the Israelis. Oops. Not good to assume.
I will e-mail him and see if he'll respond to how the story was initiated.

Very interesting! Also, young Al-Arian is listed as the author, but it has a buzz-word, political speechwriter savvy (probably Bonier's staff) scent to it.

Lots of good links! My earlier comment to you referred to the "Misdirected Anger" link.
The Radosh article was one of the best I've read exposing the leftist domination of our universities.
