US says Palestinian deaths 'tragic'

The U-S State Department says the Israeli Army's killing of Palestinian civilians in the past 24-hours is tragic, and demands investigation.

Middle East Correspondent Tim Palmer reports, in the worst attack Israeli tanks shelled a busy marketplace killing three children.

At first Israel's Army claimed tanks opened fire with shells and heavy machine guns in Jenin after being fired on themselves but later admitted there was no gunfire from the Palestinian side and the killings were a mistake. Three children two of them aged six years old died in the assault along with a 50 year old man - the market area was crowded with residents of Jenin seeking food in the belief an Israeli curfew had been lifted. US State Dept spokesman Richard Boucher said those deaths and the deaths of three more Palestinian children and a pregnant woman in the West Bank and Gaza at the hands of Israeli forces, were tragic. Israel's Army says it will investigate the Jenin incident.

I agree that it's tragic that the Israeli Army made a mistake in this incident. However, I don't see what business the United States has to demand an investigation. I'm sure the Israeli government is quite capable of handling this internal investigation without our government's "help".

How come the US State Department isn't demanding investigations for the Palestinian murders at bus stops this week...or a Palestinian investigation into the home invasion murders of women and children a couple of days ago?

Oh yes, Judaism the religion of peace...killing children, pregnant women and old men. Where is the call for Sharoniac to "reign in the terrorism".

Agreed... Israel can stamp a 'return to sender' notice on the next 'welfare check' it receives from our US Treasury, then proceed as 'they' see fit...

Of course, you've heard of 'snowballs in hell' before, haven't you?? lol...

"US says Palestinian deaths 'tragic'"

oh really? I feel the same way about the Isreali deaths resulting from Palestinian mass murderers. Wheres the bowel colin state dept. on that one? I find less and less to like about the Bush admin. They are worried about other countries more than they are ours. Iraq? hmm...what about Mexico? Until Bush does something about Mexican soliers infiltrating our borders and firing on our people, BUSH CAN GO TO HELL!!

Clinton gave the US away to CHina and Bush is doing it to Mexico.....Will a real US patriot please step up for office?

"Israel keeps saying it is civilized and just like us. Civilized people don't shoot innocents. To say anything else is to admit that Israel is a terrorist state. Hope I clarified things for you."

Sure did, palestinan sympathizers are eazy to spot! Civilized people dont strap bombs to themselves and kill innocent people and CHIDLREN. I wonder how cvilized you would think the Palestinians were if your child were killed by a homicide bomber? And just what do you think Israel should do? beg them to stop? WAKE UP!
