Apparently baseball is a sacred game, mustn't upset all the little boys, um, men, running around in their baseball caps on the weekends.

I would think out of respect for Darryl and the game they would have sucked it up an played.

I'm not a baseball fan, but I pity your husband / boyfriend.

If you have one, that is.

Actually they play about 162 days out of about 180 from April 1 to September 30 each year, not "on the weekends".

Well, you would have thought wrong.

Condolences to the Cards from a Reds fan.

Which part of "The Commissioner canceled the game" don't you understand? If they'd "sucked it up and played" it wouldn't have counted.

I am curious on what motivates such meanness as you and SO9, (who has fallen silent) to trash a perfectly fine thread?

Why not just post stupid once, get it out of your system, then move on to something else?

There are hundreds of threads on which can exhibit your stupidity, lack of class and common decency, but belaboring becomes tiresome.

Get lost, bottom-feeder. If you can't distinguish between a game and the sacredness of human life you don't have the sense to understand sportsmanship, or life. A game, however much it is esteemed, is never more important than life, or respect for those who have lived it and moved on. Come back when you grow up.

Oh look, we've found TWO Freepers on this thread without hearts.

I'm a woman, and a baseball fan, and am heartbroken for Darryl Kile's family.

Have a heart, LisaAnne, and cut the old, worn-out, envious cracks.

Hate to disillusion you but there are many of us women who are baseball fans. And, yes I wear my Royals hat a lot.

The teams could not have played today. You must be a very bitter person.

Have you ever felt like "playing" after hearing of the sudden death of a friend?

I was playing golf one beautiful Spring day many years ago, when friends came to tell me that one of our friends had suddenly died. We were sophs in college. I was in shock. I didn't want to "play" golf!

Besides, who are you to opine on what others should do in a situation you've never experienced. Like me, you aren't a professional ballplayer and have no clue what it takes to "play" a game.
