Get out of the thread... You don't belong.

It is horrible about his death and to be discussing your concerns about how you feel about how you have been treated in this thread is beyond me.

Move on Val.....

"This is ugliness. Nowhere in my posts will you find anything comparably crude, insulting, cruel and childish or deserving of such a personally vitriolic response."

??????In an 11 year carreer, he only won 13 more games than he lost (W:128 , L:115 ). Am I missing something??

Why don't you and Valerie crunch numbers and share insights.

he's a top 10% guy in the World at his profession.

??????In an 11 year carreer, he only won 13 more games than he lost (W:128 , L:115 ). Am I missing something??

A three-time All-Star who once threw a no-hitter, Kile was 5-4 with a 3.72 ERA during his 12th major league season and third with St. Louis. One of his best seasons came with the Cardinals in 2000, when he went 20-9 with a 3.91 ERA. That was the first time in fifteen years that a Cardinal pitcher had won 20 games.

His overall stats might not look so hot because his curve ball was pretty ineffective when he was in Denver playing for the Rockies. His career with the Cardinals was much different. He lead the team to post season play two years in a row. He was a mentor to Matt Morris who is the hottest pitcher the Cardinals have right now. Just this past Tuesday night his victory put the Cardinals in first place in our division.

You ladies must have been burned pretty bad to be this brutal. Who cares what the circumstance were or whether the game was cancelled.

For whatever reason Darryl Kile's life mattered enough to somebody and the powers that be called the game.

You make woman everywhere look bad.

Exactly Dave, Mike Hampton didn't turn into a bum overnight either. Colorado starters don't get decisions - they play in a gravity-absent bandbox with one of the worst defensive teams in baseball history. His 2 years there were a flat tire. Darryl Kile would be the top starter on 1/2 of the teams in the majors, a number 2 on another 1/3, and number 3 on Arizona, Boston, Atlanta, Minnesota and the Yankees. Roughly. His style would have served him well for another 5-6 years. You'd want him in a crucial late season pennant race game, and he'd have been the opening game Cards pitcher in the Playoffs or WS if they started on the road. That's your experienced weapon. It's a terrible loss from a human standpoint, and a crushing blow to the Cards. And ... I can feel sad about it and compassionate for his family, friends, teammates throughout the league and the St. Louis community. Dammit! ;^)

well said....

Darryl Kile 1968-2002

and speaking of Family....he was only 31yrs old, and leaves behind his wife, 5yr old twins and a 10 month old baby.

I heard a report that said his father died suddenly (heart?) in his early 40's.... a death so unexpected at his young age - and being such a star on the team was shocking to his team mates, the opposing team...and all his fans.

God rest his soul, and comfort his family and friends.

You have been ugly to me. I have been reasonable and did not call you names. Your demonstration of sensitivity and respect has been a profane and dishonorable temper tantrum

Who's calling the kettle black? You light up a room by leaving it!

As a diehard baseball fan and Chicago White Sox Fan this is a horrible tragedy and affects me deeply. This man was a great pitcher I was fortunate enough to witness him pitch against the White Sox in July 2000 where he clobbered us.

People who want to jump to conculsions and start rumors about Kile's death are disgusting and as low as can be. This man has a wife and three children and I send kudos to the moderators for pulling posts from people with no sense of humanity.

I live in the city of the sports fan which is Chicago and we may have two lousy ballteams but we love baseball just as much as any city in America and the death of St. Louis's greatest pitcher on the squad is horrifying.

My prayers and condolences go out to Darryl Kile's family and the St. Louis Cardinals organization which has had to deal with two deaths in a week.

I owe you thanks for your posts on this thread.
News of an untimely death like that of Darryl Kile saddens me, but because of your generosity in revealing your character here, news of your passing will trouble me not one bit.

They are just bitter that someone cares more about a ballplayer than them.

The Cardinals have already had one death in the "family" this week...and yes I mean FAMILY -- these guys spend 6+ months out of the year together. This year's team was especially close and I hope they can keep it together.

Not only that, but as you know ... the St. Louis Cardinals and their fans ARE a family. Nearly every year 3 million or so Cardinal fans pack Busch Stadium and the Cardinals have been one of the most consistently successful teams in Major League baseball over the years. A wonderful win-win for the community. When a guy like Kile dies so tragically ... it IS a loss to that community. Profoundly. On a human and personal basis. St. Louis is a very unique and special baseball town ... and so is Chicago. It was poignant to me that the Cards were visiting Wrigley today. You know, and I know, the Cubs fans unanimousoy understand and support the postponement today, and are very symapthetic to the fans of St. Louis. They respect (grudgingly) the Cards and their fans more than any other of St. Louis' opponents. It was a very sad and bittersweet scenario when Girardi announced the cancellation. What a fool that Valerie is - Kile left a positive mark with fans in Houston, Denver and St. Louis (and Minneapolis!) - and with hundreds of current and former major league teammates. FR is a nationwide forum, I just wanted to say a good word for the man and express my sadness and regards to the Freepers who care. That's the interest for me tonight - he was a good guy and a great athelete and competitor. Kile left behind 5 year old twins, a 3 year old child and a loving wife - what a tough week in St. Louis for a baseball fan. My regards!

"A prayer to the Kile family, who have lost far more than even the Cardinals, who are too classy an organisation to have to lose a beloved broadcaster and a good pitcher in less than five days. Here's hoping their class continues to include (as I've known them to do in the past) looking out for the Kile family, whose loss of a husband and father is far more important than their loss of a pitcher................For me, I feel like there's one less class act in baseball"

Worth repeating Blues... You're a true baseball fan and a true gentlemen yourself! :)
