$1.8-million in marijuana confiscated from state park

The man says he was growing pot to help support his family in Mexico.

Authorities in San Joaquin County have confiscated $1.8-million worth of marijuana after finding a man growing the plants inside a valley state park. State rangers discovered the 400 pot plants at Caswell State Park. That's just east of Ripon in San Joaquin County. A ranger stumbled across the plants, then found their owner nearby and arrested him.

The man says he was growing pot to help support his family in Mexico. So far, his name has not been released.

$1.8-million/400 plants = $4500 per plant
Can that be right? How?

California Central District Drug Threat Assessment
The wholesale prices of low-grade Mexican marijuana and high-grade domestic marijuana have remained stable. Mexican marijuana typically sells for between $330 and $500 per pound. The price of domestically produced marijuana ranges between $2,550 and $6,000 per pound. BC Bud, a hybrid type of cannabis grown in British Columbia, Canada, sells for approximately $6,000 per pound.

Wyoming Drug Threat Assessment
Sinsemilla
Sinsemilla, in Spanish, means without seed. Growing the female cannabis plant separate from the male cannabis plant prevents pollination, resulting in an increase in THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) levels and bud growth. DEA reports that the average THC content of sinsemilla grown indoors ranges from 8 to 10 percent. The average marijuana yield for mature sinsemilla is approximately one-half pound per plant, compared with 1 pound per plant for commercial-grade marijuana.

I don't get it...Seems like the guy had 400 pounds of commercial-grade marijuana, at best, and it's not going to catch a high price according to the stats. And that sure isn't going to make $1.8 million either.

And they want to expand the State Park system so it's even bigger and harder to supervise?

What are they doing, smoking weed?

DEA reports that the average THC content of sinsemilla grown indoors ranges from 8 to 10 percent.

Interesting number. I guess the DEA forgot about the boatload of lies they've been telling us about the "new" marijuana, with "scary" numbers like 20% THC content. Really, these guys need a scorecard to keep their propaganda straight.

Also, prosecutors always estimate the maximum yield, from the maximum number of plants. No matter how big they are, or how many might end up being useless males. Its one of the reasons why growing marijuana, even for personal use, is just plain dumb. I should say especially for personal use, since you're taking a big risk for no reward. Buy American.

They expect him to sell every gram individually for $10.00 each.
