I had the same thought that you did. How about those nifty cards that some supermarket chains are using now. For example, the "Kroger plus card" here in GA. With the card you can save $$ on your grocery purchase. But, now they have your name and personal information as well as buying habits. What if, to "reduce the number of cards you need to carry" and to "make your shopping experience more joyfull" they start taking these national ID cards. It's just another small step to make them MANDITORY. You know, so they can monitor and "limit" our purchases of "non-healthy" foods or, heaven forbid - CIGARETTES! You know, for "our benefit" and the "common good"
They can all GO TO H*#@!

A grocery store outside of Seattle and the KROGER in a town in Texas (sorry, can't remember which one right now) are ALREADY using people's fingerprints in lieu of money and other ids. Scary part? People have been lining up to register their bank accounts, credit cards and personal information because "it's SOOO convenient". The sheople will believe anything that anybody tells them if it doesn't require thinking!!
