I just watched the special on KTVX on Elizabeth Smart. No new information at all, but 40 harpists held a benefit concert for Elizabeth at Exchange Plaza in SLC. They played many of her favorite musical numbers. Ed Smart read a poem, Lois was by his side, didn't talk, but she was very distressed because her lips were trembling. I'm praying very hard for this family, and I am glad they aren't dignifying the garbage stories with any comments.

Love your screen name. It shows a degree of creativity. But your argument that conservatives should only think about information spoonfed to them by mainstream media and the police implies that your mind doesn't thrive for long outside the box. That any criticism of this family or speculation that they may have something to hide strikes you as anti-Mormon says loud and clear that you're more concerned with the good name of that institution than anything else.

FYI, one of our most conservative Freepers ocasionally sells articles to the tabloids and has reported that they require MORE proof than mainstream press. I wouldn't take them as gospel though, any more than I'd rely on the NYTimes or Deseret News to published accurate and unbiased "news."

Everyone remember that there will be strange reports, puposefully conflicting reports, staged news conferences, and other tricks used by the police to catch the crook. It's just like politics and diplomacy! Don't jump to conclusions quite yet. The Police et al will be trying to play with the public's mind, and the crooks mind, to catch him and find the girl. Good rant, hb. Welcome to FR. I agree heartily-- some folks get carried away with who sounded weird in the press conference and who made NE headlines and who would leave their garage door open and Mormon conspiracies and white slave trade and blah blah blah...
If I had to sit here and speculate, I'd guess there's been some sort of ransom demand, hence the cops' closedhandedness...

If I was a cop, I wouldn't tell the press SQUAT. I'd sit there and pull stories out my arse rather than tell 'em ANYTHING about my case...
