PARIS: Member states from Nato and its Partnership for Peace programme will participate in more than two weeks of war games in the Romanian port of Constanta starting on Friday, the French defense ministry said.
The exercise, codenamed Cooperative Partner, is aimed at promoting transparency and cooperation between Nato and its non-member partners as well as the "democratisation of armed forces" in Partnership for Peace countries.
Nato member states participating in the exercise -- due to end on July 6 -- include France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Turkey and the United States.
Non-Nato participants include Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, host country Romania, Ukraine and the Romanian Red Cross.
The Partnership for Peace programme was established in 1994 to develop military cooperation between the transatlantic alliance and eastern and central European countries, and improve European stability.
