[history]
It was a cliche to call Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura larger than life. But yesterday the former professional wrestler, Navy SEAL and bodyguard for the Rolling Stones claimed to be just a dad angry over media coverage of his family as he announced he would retire after just one term. The truth -- as with everything about Minnesota's independent governor -- was more complicated.

Emulating his close friend Arnold Schwarzenegger, who also hopes to someday enter politics, Jesse Ventura may well be lighting a cigar somewhere tonight, laughing and saying "I'll be back."

"I'll be back." Sounds as though Governor Ventura is hinting that he is ready for 'PRIMETIME'........I'll wager he is planning on a run for the U.S.Senate in the near future!!

Jesse was at his best when he played a minor role in "Predator". This latest billing of his was a career killer. ;-)

All that said, American politics will be duller for Mr. Ventura's retirement.Naw. Not at all. Jimmy Janos' puerile attempts at shock value and humor were dull.
As a pol, his 15 ran out early in his term, and he knows it. If he lost a second-term bid, his celebrity capital would be right around the Leif Garrett level. Emcee-ing tractor pulls and such.

I remember his big tag line in that one. It was in response to another soldier telling him that he'd been hit and was bleeding, to which 'the body' replied: "
I ain't got time to bleed"
I think he used that line as the title of his autobiogrophy
.

Yep. The closing comment on this piece about Jesse lighting a cigar made me think of the Predator role. He chewed tobacco from a pouch on that one. Huge wad of chaw, it was too.
