Bill Cosby who's hit NBC television sitcom idealized family life throughout the 1980's has some harsh words about America's favorite openly disfunctional family, 'The Osbornes.'
'First of all you media need to stop with this Ozzy Osbourne.
This is a sad, sad family; it is a sad case.
The children are sad and the parents are sad,' Cosby tells entertainment show 'Access Hollywood on Thursday, June 20.
'This is not entertainment.'
While many think audiences respond to the MTV series based on the misadventures of Ozzy and crew because it shows that even the rich and famous suffer the same complicate family dynamics as the hoi polloi, Cosby says that enjoying it is akin to 'laughing at Tiny Tim.'
You bet, he had a following that would drink his sweat from a cup.
It's nice to see that some understand that even a "has been" has their following of assorted geeks, and the easily amused and impressed.
This has me thinking about future Real World Rock Celeb series:
How about The Woods with Ron Wood, his wife, his son and his son's wife (he's married to Ron's wife's mum)?
The Jaggers would follow more of a dating show format as Mick brings a new model/mistress home every week.
Mark my words - this is gonna be a disaster for the individual chapter and possibly the national organization. The scandals behind the scenes will be much worse than the show. Link
Looks like the Bill's might be comparing strategies for secret affairs.
Sounds hypocritical to say the least. The New York 2 cast had an 18 year obtain and use a fake ID to go to bars (she may have even been drinking).
Do they have a "crime" policy, substance abuse policy, or an illegal drug policy. I'm not coming out for drugs on MTV but I do find the decision to be hypocritical.
Can we get Roky Erikson of the Thirteenth Floor Elevators his own show?
To be honest with you I never thought Bill Cosby was all that talented or all that funny. And he certainly lost any moral "authority" he had (in his role as the faithful to his wife black man), when he admitted to "ministering" (Hillary Clinton's term for what Bill was doing for Monica, and of course she's the smartest woman in the world, doncha know?) to that trollop who was trying to extort money from him.
And while I certainly can't say for sure, I don't think he takes to white people very well. He was asked in the early years of his "family" show why he didn't have any white people/characters on, and his reply was "let Mary Tyler Moore put them on her show".
This is gonna get good...
You may be right about Cosby. But Cosby's right about Ozzy.
I bet if they all pooled their money together they couldnt rent the Manhattan and SF pads that they were living in, let alone furnish them.
Oh man the Tivo will be in overdrive with Real World-College Sorority babes..that way I can tape and not miss anything if I am 'interrupted' during the program
Ah, a fellow TiVo-phile. A pity you have such lousy taste in TV shows, though. ;-)
Such is the power of TiVo, it satisfies any taste! :-)
