Moderate Earthquake Shakes Mexico

MEXICO CITY -- A strong earthquake shook southern Mexico on Wednesday. The quake swayed tall buildings in Mexico City but there were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
The earthquake recorded at 4:50 p.m. had a magnitude of 5.5, according to Mexico's National Seismological Service.
The service said the quake was centered near the town of Pinotepa Nacional, about 205 miles southeast of Mexico City.

But not long term damage.
We spent a week at the beach in Ixtapa right after the big Mexico City earthquake in 1986 or 87 and a couple of the hotels looked like a giant hand had taken hold of the roof and torqued the building like a slinky.
When we paid a return visit a year later, the lads had plastered over everything and it was business as usual.

There was an earthquake in Indiana (near Evansville) yesterday... think there may be a connection ?...lol
