RAMALLAH, West Bank, Jun 19, 2002 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- Israeli tanks and armored vehicles entered Ramallah from two directions early Thursday, witnesses said. Tanks and armored personnel carriers entered the West Bank Palestinian town from Beitunia to the south and from the west, the witnesses said, heading toward the center of town, where Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat has his headquarters. The Israeli military had no immediate comment. Palestinians said about 20 Israeli vehicles entered Ramallah and were heading toward the center of town. The incursion followed the second suicide bombing in Jerusalem in as many days. On Wednesday evening, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a busy intersection, killing six Israelis and himself. On Monday, another Palestinian bomber blew up a bus, killing 19 Israelis. After the bus bombing, the Israeli government issued a policy statement saying that as a response to terror attacks, Israel would take over Palestinian territory and hold it until the attacks stop. This was a shift, as up to then, Israel had defined its incursions into Palestinian territory as aimed only at arresting terror suspects and confiscating weapons and explosives. Late Tuesday, Israeli forces moved into the northern West Bank town of Jenin and took over military control, declaring a curfew in the town and its adjacent refugee camp, the source of dozens of suicide bombers who have attacked Israelis. Israeli forces also moved into the town of Qalqiliya and the city of Nablus, pulling out of Nablus after a few hours.

It is hard to figure out when Israel is taking territory permanently due to a terrorist strike and when they are just doing a short operation to arrest some terrorists.

what a shame that Arafat's thugs have killed the few decent Palestinians who would finger the Hamas, et al for Israel ... that's why Arafat had them executed in public ... now Israel has no choice but to go after them in the rat's nest ...

Good God.
I am sick and tired of reading about homicide bombers, Israelis entering Palie Occupied territory and then leaving. Just waste Arafat, level every stinking structure and lay waste to everything that moves.
Enough, already!!!

I am sick and tired of the endless parade of baby faced ME intellectual types the main news feeds and talking head programs go to when they want the Arab point of view.
For crying out loud, get some of the real players on the tube. The guys in full table cloth ready to fly off on their carpet or charm their snake out of the weaved basket. These fully bearded throwbacks to the time of Alladin are the ones making their move, not the effeminate baby faces. Stop the charade and show us the face of araby.

Instead of taking land on the West Bank, which only encourages more terrorist attacks, Israel should round up the homicide bomber's family and execute them all. This may sound radical, but it is the only way to stop the carnage. That way, when a homicide bomber decides to go kill a bunch of innocents, he is sacraficing more than just himself, he is sacraficing his whole family. No more "proud parents" collecting $25 grand from Sadam Hussein. Maybe they will think twice.

After the bus bombing, the Israeli government issued a policy statement saying that as a response to terror attacks, Israel would take over Palestinian territory and hold it until the attacks stop.Nothing made me more mad at Bush than his "withdrawal without delay" line in April. The Israelis should never have pulled out in the first place, but instead should have policed the murderous rodents as if their lives depended on it, because obviously they did.

Good.

The Israelis need to learn how to soften up targets with air strikes before they move in. They are going to get busted one day.

Time for a little urban renewal, IDF-style.

Al Qaeda attacked and killed Americans--America bombed Al Qaeda.
Arafatians attacked and killed Israelis--Israel must walk on eggs because of BushPowellRice squeamishness.
I vote to put Arafat's head in a jar on Sharon's desk.
I move the top layer of scum be castrated and their members be mated with their tonsils.
I cast my proxy that the entire genetic lineage of each bomber be extinguished.
We achieved peace against the Third Reich when Hitler's corpse blazed in a gasoline fire and shells rained on his bunker environs.
We completed the peace process with Japan after obliterating two major population centers (a quarter million civilians) with nuclear bombs and Tokyo with an incendiary attack the likes of which the world has not seen before or since.
Let BushPowellRice sober up in a detox center--let there be no more tripping out with delusions of a Palistate.
Coexistence with cancer is suicide--do Yassir without delay.

"Stop the charade and show us the face of araby." That's beautiful.

"Israel will respond to every act of terror by seizing Palestinian Authority territory, which will be held by Israel as long as the terror continues," the statement said. "Additional acts of terror will lead to the seizure of additional territory."
Israel may have to take is all back again, and this is the right thing to do. Wild animals do not need a state.

USA has done some real harm by offering carrot sticks to the Islamic terrorists, and they are just encouraging them on, making them think that terrorism is paying off handsomely! The people of the USA are not used to living with terrorists, and some of us think that we can appease them some how, but we cannot, for they are just inherently evil. You can not give the devil a sweet, and think that he will go away and be happy.

Then why don't you explain that to the members of the Kenset since THEY are the ones stopping Sharon, NOT Bush and Powell. I'm sick of people blaming US for this. Israel is NOT America and America is NOT Israel. We can only advise them not tell them what to do.
To: McGavin999
Then why don't you explain that to the members of the Kenset "Kenset" is meaningless to me.
Perhaps you meant Knesset.
To: PhilDragoo
Yep, that's what I meant.
