"Up front tonight, our special guest Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Natan Sharansky joins us to give us Israel's reaction to today's suicide bombing in Jerusalem. The latest count indicates seven dead and many wounded. Today's deadly blast comes one day after 19 people were killed in the worst suicide bombing in Jerusalem in six years. We'll also take a look at the much-anticipated Mideast peace roadmap expected from the White House, which was scheduled to be announced this week, but now will probably be announced next week. Reportedly, this new proposal from the Bush administration will include a plan for an "interim" Palestinian state in the near future as well as calling for an international peace summit by the end of the summer. Joining us on our panel for debate, Rep. Eliot Engel, D-NY and Charles Kupchan of the Council on Foreign Relations.
"Up front tonight, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Natan Sharansky joins us to give us the latest on today's suicide bombing in Jerusalem in the wake of yesterday's devastating bombing there in six years. We'll also take a look at the much-anticipated Mideast peace roadmap expected from the White House as early as this week. The suicide bombings appear to have pushed back the announcement of this plan that was expected as early as last Monday. Reportedly this will include a proposal for an "interim" Palestinian state in the near future as well as calling for an international peace summit by the end of the summer. Joining us on our panel for debate, Rep. Eliot Engel, D-NY and Charles Kupchan of the Council on Foreign Relations.
"Up next, conservative lawmakers today have called for President Bush to deploy thousands of troops along U.S. borders, saying the homeland security plan that the White House delivered yesterday to Congress would take years to crack down on illegal immigration. Is it necessary to put our US troops on the border? Do we need a military branch that would be recruited and trained specifically to guard the US border as opposed to the law enforcement doctrine of the US Border Patrol? We'll debate that issue in the second half hour."
IMHO, "fireworks" doesn't begin to describe what happened last night...Keyes was outstanding!
I wanted so badly to get online and talk about Keyes' show...but, I was stopped by severe thunderstorms that stalled over the DC/VA area for hours.
I will watch Keyes' show tonight...and weather permitting...be online.
Thanks for the "heads-up".
When he got the chance to respond, Keyes showed his outrage that the Arab gentleman had no remorse for the terrorism, that he blamed the Israelis for everything, and that he acted as though the Palestinians were not responsible for their actions. Keyes complained that he was tired of guests coming on his show, as they did with the false "Jenin massacre," to make dishonest assertions.
The Arab man pulled his earpiece out, and left.
Powell sure was a mistake. Good thing we have Cheney in there to counteract Powell's faulty mid-east position.
Alan asked a Palestinian representative (don't remember his name) what he thought of the bus bombing that killed 19...targeting children with bombs laced with nails and rat poision.
The Palestinian representative gave Alan the standard reply that these attacks were necessary because it's the only weapon the poor Pales have....and tried to make a case for moral equivalency.
Keyes went "nuts"...telling this guy (and I paraphrase) that targeting children in this way isn't an act of war, it's an act that says you have no respect for the humanity of your enemy and proves the Palis don't want to "win", but want to bring about the extinction of Isreal.
The Palestinian representative walked off. Keyes didn't even blink.
Talk about "reality TV".
