Washington -- A day after a government report blasted his agency as inept and incapable of regulating electricity markets, the nation's top energy regulator called the findings "right on."

"Quite frankly, most anybody that would look at this would come to the same conclusion," Patrick Wood III, chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, said Tuesday in an exclusive interview with The Chronicle.

I went to college with Pat Wood. He is very good friends with my old college roommate. They went to high school together. Anyway, Pat is a very smart, honest man. He has a degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M, and a law degree from Harvard. I'm very glad that he is head of the FERC. I trust him to make good decisions and to clean up the FERC.

As a Texas regulator who spent 6 1/2 years devising a deregulation plan for that state, he said he was dismayed by FERC's past inaction.

At least he's honest about how screwed up his (new to him) bureaucracy is...

But does anybody believe "regulators" can really deregulate themselves and come up with an honest "deregulation" plan?....In fact some parts of Texas are NOT deregulated even by their own definition of the word....which means Texas is not deregulated.

Well, the politicians on both sides screwed up deregulation here in California.

Particularly the ones that wrote it, then voted for the phony scam. But thank you for an honest voice of reason.
