The nation's top immigration official said Wednesday he is willing to consider the economic impact on the travel industry of an administration proposal to limit how long foreigners can visit the United States.

James Ziglar, commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, agreed in a House committee hearing to meet with industry members to address their concerns, as long as Bush administration officials approve and the law allows it.

IMO this rule would not effect the tourism businesses.

90% of all tourists have return tickets and they would be allowed to stay for that period of time.

The other 10% don't and can easily tell the Inspector the length then intend to stay.

The number of tourist that actually request or stay 6 months is so small, they would have no impact on the tourism businesses, and would be allowed to stay once they explained them selves to the Inspector.

Take with a grain of salt whatever Ziglar says.

Who care if it affects tourism? I cannot believe they would put the economic interests of the tourism industry ahead of our national security. Just another example of the ruling class' total inabiltiy to think straight on these matters, in line with the no profiling rule at the airports and the continuing issuance of visas to men from terrorist cell countries. People should be demanding Ziglar's head on a pike.

We sure have a hard time deciding whether we are going to fight terrorism or let our business interests take top priority. This is the reason I place little reliability on the Federal government doing anything to protect us. it seems to me there is more emphasis on pretending to do something than the actual deed.

Securing our borders and knowing who goes in and out of our country is one of the easiest, most cost effective way of ending the "War on Terror".

If we simply kept the enemy out we could go back to life as normal. Instead we do what's least intelligent and set up giant useless bureaucracies, spend billions upon billions and make peoples kids and grandmas take their clothes off at airports.

All of this is infuriating when common logic dictates that all we have to do is secure our borders.

WTF is wrong with us? I'm starting to despise the namby-pamby cowardly safety freaks and the freedom/money grabbing politicos that are enabled by them.

Land of the Free, Home of the Brave? Right now it's more like "Land of the Freedom Grabs and Home of the Slaves".

But securing borders harms domestic cheap labor interests, and Globalist importation interests. Our safety is an externilizable cost.
