ATF agents described 200 rounds of the ammunition found in the bag as the kind used by snipers. 30-06? .308? Wouldn't any big game ammo be of the 'kind used by snipers'.

Hmh, .308 and .50 is pretty much standard for sniping, but anything from .22 on up can be used. I remember reading about the Serbs using .323 Mausers for that purpose. This kinda hits home since I was stationed at Ft Bragg. Odds are that he was up to no good. Two hundred rounds aren't that many, I reload more than that in a session, but given the guy's history I'd say that was a reasonable telephone call on the part of the gas station attendant.
