Yes,the casing could have been one the little boys picked up somewhere and fell out of their pocket when the gate was being put across the door. Could find several ways to explain the casing and none be the right one,I guess.
Had the vD's been straight up with the LE from the beginning we wouldn't be looking at every little thing and doubting every meaning of every bit of evidence. Sad, isn't it?

I would love ANYBODY to do it. I am in the busy part of my work right now, and this thread is too big ,too slow for some people.
A new thread might be encouraging, and I can post my revised PING LIST there.
Better yet, here it is , you post it.

I no longer take those nasty grams with a sigh and a delete. I forward them (with expanded headers) to the abuse@ mailbox of the sender's ISP. If they have used the words young, teen or incest, I forward it to the FBI. And then I hit the reply button and put "Have forwarded your message to the FBI, have a nice day!" in the subject line. This has actually resulted in ISP replying that they have dumped said spammer. This crap has reduced itself from several a day to once or twice a month. When an ISP responds with weasel words and the suggestion that I purchase filtering software, my answer is nope, whenever your customers send me filth, I am going to return it to YOU!

I was looking at DVD testimony at the prlim and found it interesting that at some point he told the LE that they had enough evidence from his house and that was that! He said they had been there 3 times and carted out boxes of stuff and from what he could tell they had enough. Interesting indeed. I wasn't aware of that. Thought both VDs said they have done everything LE had asked of them.
But I also wasn't aware until today that the VD washing machine had towels and rugs in it during the early stages of searching the house for evidence. Odd.

Unfortunately, you can NOT BE SURE it's gone. The police skip the normal file system which only marks the space as "Available", it might be written over but might not. If the police find even a small piece of the file they can find the orginal and show that you once had the whole thing on your computer. Only a serious hacker type program can really erase the file.
The computer builds copies of most internet pages and stores them as "temps" that you never know about (I caught ny teenage son that way once). Also viruses can and do dowmnload porn unto your computer and put it places you don't look. You are not in control, the web is.
Does your harddrive seem to run at times when you think nothing ought to be going on? Mine does.
BTW the so called "kiddy porn" was on a CD in an evelope, not on DW's computer. The judge called it a cartoon.

Did we ever find out who the cell phone calls were to, on Saturday morning soon after DW left his home? I read somewhere one of them was to his ex (Jackie) but I don't know if it was fact or speculation. What have you been able to find out about the calls?

J, I remember the testimony you refer to, as I saw it live. DvD did NOT stop LE from collecting anything as may be inferred from the way your post is written.
To: skipjackcity
The explosive part was something that was said during the first interrogation with out food, sleep or phone call. The 28.5 hour visit. Check it out here.

Their are programs to buy that will wipe unalocated files away. Under a MS-DOS filesystem a delete just munges the first letter of the directory entry (that's why the "recover" utility prompts for the first letter of the filename), but the data is still there until over-written. Windows95 just added the half-assed wastebasket.
And yes. There are utilities that'll scribble ones and zeros on the un-allocated sectors. But that's still not enough.
In 1980-somthing my employer got the contract to upgrade machines at a SAC Air Force Base.
After installing the new drives (& copying the data), a officer would escort the technician outside to watch him open the old drive and hammer the platter(s).
Aluminum platters were to be bent into a "S", glass & plastics shattered in at least 6 pieces / platter.
That's a non-recoverable disk.

See my #789. I remember seeing that testimony. LE were not hindered in any way of taking anything. I do remember DvD saying they took alot. They never told the police they had enough and to stop.

The subject of porn on David Westerfields computer has me really worried. If this is used to help convict a man of murder, we are all in trouble. We dont control whats in our computers anymore than we can control what goes into our regular mailbox, and are probably a lot less aware of it!
If some jerk sends you porn you can throw it away (LE found it in your garbage) or maybe it would be better to burn it (LE found evidence that you tried to destroy evidence of porn), you could take it the post office and file a complaint (calling attention yourself).
If your have say a 20 gig hard drive, you have space for maybe a million dirty pictures. If you try to erase them, they dont really go away (very easy for LE to find). They can be hidden in other file types (LE uses signature analysis to detect images hidden in other types of files).
Do a simple test and do file find for just *.jpg. Ill bet you have no idea what many of them are (The porno hunters will though). Any of them have suggestive names? Or just meaningless numbers?
If a young child was sexual molested and killed in your neighborhood tomorrow, would some of your neighbors say you didnt like kids, or you did like kids, or maybe that you liked kids too much? Which one would make you a non-suspect? So you let em search your home. Any strange fibers, or fingerprints, or blood drops. Do you buy bleach, or oxyclean? Is your home too messy, too clean or just right.
Do you own a knife collection (400 for $100 on late night TV) a gun or binoculars or a telescope. Booze or dope in your home. Any bomb making chemicals like fertilizer and gasoline? Firecrackers? Do you own pliers or a pipe wrench? Any old pieces of pipe lieing around. Gun powder for reloading? Strange tools?
Im going to reformat my hard drives now, bye!

John, I would like to wait until the evidence is presented to really get into it, but I will say my understanding is that he kept these downloaded and catalogued. Let's hear what they have first before comparing it to spam that any person could innocently have if their computer were to be searched.

I remember that thread and talking to PsyOps about it that night, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, 28.5 hours and all.

"Do a simple test and do file find for just *.jpg."...Thanks for the tip. I had 139 objects in there and cleared out all but 18 of them. Some were pictures of BVD and others of DW(I guess courtesy of Fres), plus one of Arafat. Anyway, it cleared up some disk space, so thank you.
To: cyncooper
I am not inferring anything. I said that I found it interesting. If it doesn't interest you, I understand. As to the VD's cooperating with the LE, you and I will have to agree to disagree.

That's not true. Statistically, the AVERAGE PERSON has one breast and one testicle. Right about the breast, but down below, on average, they're completely smooth. Like a Trent Lott doll.
