This is the second TV ad the RNC has used in the last few weeks in Georgia. It appears that the Republicans are targeting Clevland hard for a senate seat pickup.
Here is the other:

Southern people tend to be conservative. Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, Anti-Homosexual want lower taxes ect...
But many are die hard democrats. So many of them just will not let the civil war die, and don't like to vote "yankee" (republican) even though the standards of the 1800's are not even remotly close to applying today.
Southern states tend to vote Republican in Presidential Elections, and Democrat in everything else.
It is very hard for a Republican to win in portions of the South.
Now many of the die-hard southern democrats are dieing off or starting to see the light, and they are starting to see how hard core communist and anti-christian the democrats of today are.
To demonstrate this point look at the Presidential Elections.
There were states like South Carolina that were giving 93% of the vote to the Democratic candidates in the early 1900's.
Texas and Virginia were the first to lose the Democrat or nothing problem in 1952 when Eisenhower won, and today Virginia and Texas are both pretty strongly Republican.
A real turning point was in 1972 when Nixon managed to win every state except Massachusetts and DC.
This is also the point were many southern democrats realized how liberal the democrats had become.
Now most of the South went democrat again in 1976 but this was due to a Southern Gov. from Georgia (Carter) Who tried to play Conservative running.
In 1980 the Only Southern State to Vote Democrat was Georgia.
North Carolina and South Carolina have moved into the Safe Republican Category In Presidential Elections as neither has voted for a Democrat since 1976.
GA, AR, TN, LA, and KY all voted for Clintoon in 1992, and LA, AR, TN, KY, and FL went Clintoon in 1996.
I believe that Both of Clintoon's elections were due to poor Republican Candidates and The Ross Perot Factor. I do not believe Bush Sr. Would have lost in 1992 if it had not been for Perot.
Now keep in mind all of the above refers to Presidential Elections.
Many of the Southern States have Democratic Strangholds at the local levels and even at the statewide levels with U.S. Congressmen, U.S. Senators, and Govs.
Georgia is one of the worst of the states with this problem. Georgia is fairly reliable as a Republican state in Presidential elections now, but in everything else, they love to pull the democrat lever.
If you look at some of the Senators that come from Conservative Southern States you will get my point, It doesn't make since that North Carolina would elect an idiot like John Edwards, or that Georiga would elect a Max Cleland, or that an Al Gore can come from Tennessee. The people in these states would all fall to the Conservative side, yet they consistantly vote democrat in non-presidential elections.
This exact same problem applies in a different way to some of the Rust-Belt States like my Home State of Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania is a Conservative State. It is one of the Most Pro-Gun and Pro-Life States in the Country. Both U.S. Senators, Both the State House and the State Senate, and a Majority of the U.S. Congressional Delegation as well as every Statewide office except Auditor General are held by Republicans. Yet Pennsylvania votes democrat for idiots like Clinton and Gore.
Now a lot of that is vote fraud coming out of the Philadelphia area, but it also has to do with Union Idiots who are otherwise conservative, pulling the lever for Democrats because the Union or their parents told them too.
Many of the Pennsylvania Democrats are very pro-life and pro-gun, but they still vote democrat because of the union stranglehold.
If there were a way to reach these type of people, and PUSH the Social Issues that they care about, I think would could run the ultra-liberal Hillary type democrats out of power.
The Democratic party is a party of Communists now, with the typical democratic powerholder being one with the same ideology as a hillary clintoon or other assorted idiot.
If we could reach the Union Democrats of States like Pennsylvania and Michigan and the Southern Democrats, we could sweep the communist party out of any power that they hold.
I think the key to this would be to run a well funded campaign that put the social issues like gun-control and abortion on the forefront.
I am suprised that no candidate has tried this yet, most republicans run on lower taxes and other economic issues, and put the social issues secondary. I think some TV ads showing the results of abortions, and putting the facts on the democrats support for ultra-communist issues would have a big impact.
Of course the media would scream and cry about it, they would resort to all sorts of attacks, but if the people actually saw in your face ads about abortion on TV, I think at election time, they would think twice before pulling the democrat lever.
Now this would take a republican with some guts and it would take money because once those types of ads ran, the leftist media would literally have a cow.
If he doesn't improve his name recognition, he will be absolutely trounced by Cleland. Don't be fooled enough to believe otherwise.
Coverdell did need a runoff to beat Fowler. The Libertarian candidate took 3% of the vote and forced the runoff (after which the Georgia legislature changed the law so that Fowler would have won under the new rules). Actually, the Libertarian candidate probably cost the GOP Cleland's seat. Guy Millner lost to Cleland by 30K votes, but the Libertarian candidate won 81K votes. There's every reason to believe those Libertarian voters would have supported Millner (having supported Coverdell over Fowler in the runoff) had there not been a party candidate. The Georgia legislature probably prevented a repeat GOP win by lowering the runoff threshold. The LP has a candidate this year, too-- a Vietnam Vet named Sandy Thomas. He'll probably cost Chambliss the seat.
Another thing hurting Chambliss is that Millner was incredibly rich, but Chambliss isn't and he has to compete with the $2M cash on hand advantage Cleland has over him right now.
That about sums it up. This includes quite a few on FR. They would rather loose the cultural war being fought today than forget about something that ended 137 years ago. A real smart bunch they are. They have perhaps forever tainted states' rights by associating it with slavery and today allow the worst enemies of those rights to be elected into government.
